SCRIPT

Russia, 1930. The Master is writing the story of Pontius Pilate, but the biography ends up condemned by the literary critics of the Soviet regime. The Devil, an expert in black magic, arrives in Moscow escorted by a most unworldly retinue, and creates havoc amongst the literary circles and bureaucrats by triggering a series of supernatural occurrences. The Master’s lover, Margarita, is blackmailed into accepting to host, as a queen, a ball organized by the Devil. For one night she turns into a particularly gifted witch…
