In the midst of the cold war, the Garnier theatre in Paris still manages to engage in cultural exchanges with the Kirov theatre of Leningrad. The French secret services however suspect that Moscow allows for these artistic exchanges to continue for spying purposes. In the seemingly tight-knit community of artists from many different a nation, the French agents soon single out a young Russian dancer who may well be the centre of an international network of double agents.
